Day 10 - I need help!

I've just been 'ordered' to go on a works drinks/dinner thing on 4 April in Newcastle. Now, not drinking I can get away with the old 'i'm on antibiotics' lie but what do I do at the restaurant?? I don't want any of my colleagues, especially my boss, to know that I'm doing LL. Has anyone got any tips for me? Should I just get a green salad or something? I'm gutted cos I thought I'd get away without going but it seems that I won't...I REALLY don't want to spoil my diet!

Hi Karen

Thanks for leaving VERY good comments on my blog. You are right, of course re scales, etc.

Anyway, this is what our counsellor advised us to do in social situations. She said if you order a piece of fish and salad and then just push the food round on your plate, no one will be any the wiser. I would definitely not have believed this but for my not eating anything (nothing on plate) last week at a sit down dinner. Had I put things on my plate, I know people would not have noticed and commented at all. It's amazing but true. Or, if fish is a no-no, try grilled chicken breast. You can spend a lot of time cutting up the food but not eating it.

I hope this helps. It was a big concern for me as I have not gone public with this (ie LL).

Good luck. You will be fine and well done with Easter basket.

Yes agree with the previous comments, although not tried it yet myself.

Sorry if missed this already or if not an option, ..... do you really have to go?

I realise I may be taking the easy way out, I just know I felt I wanted to go out in the meal environment when I was ready.

Keep us posted whatever plan you go for

I'm planning on doing what Mrs L recommended when I go out with people that I've not told.

I haven't told hardly anybody - only really 1 person at work and my own family, and mum, sister (who has told people!!) and my aunty ..... people in work just think that I've got a sudden crush on soups!

Good luck with your meal.

I think the best thing to do is plan exactly what you're going to do and stick to it - don;t plan to fail and think how hard it will be plan positive and then carry out your plan. I would either do what Mrs recommended (I haven't tried it myself) or say you're on some medical exclusio ndiet and need to have your soup warmed up.

I have told eveyrone I@m on the diet personally and find that that helps to keep me on the straight and narrow! But, each to their own...
